Click to expand.I basically created a Lion boot disk following the instruction on this website. Using some suggestions from Mammoth's thread on HP Dvx laptops installations, I have decided to move chameleon on all of my machines to a separate partitions. The nice thing about this is that if you mess up and have to reinstall, you van just do it using a USB stick since your boot loader, dsdt, kexts, etc are already in the hard drive. Unfortunately, you need a working mac to do that although I think there are instruction son that thread on how to create USB boot disks from Windows. Lion runs pretty good. I have to run it using the 32-bit kernel because of the need for VoodooPS2. I still haven't been able to get the sound working and the battery management requires some tweaking - i.e.
Legacy kexts (acpi next from 10.6.7 and voodoobattery. I still think these may make the system unstable and cause intermittent kernel panics. I have not run into a better solution for battery information for lion yet. The sound is another issue. I think the only solution is patching the appleHDA next for this laptop but unfortunately I lack the expertise for this matter. VoodooHDA works but it causes kernel panics specially when you apply the volume control fixes. My recommendations for lion installation can be summarized: 1.
You are welcome to use mine. I have done a couple of extra things to it: remove the HDEF information hoping to be able to use voodoohda - did not work - and adding the video car information to be able to boot w/o graphics enabler and more importantly to get the VGA out port working. Create a boot disk with the latest chameleon you can get your hands on. What I normally do for this, is create one using multi beast from tonymacx86 blog and the update the boot loader.
You can add the dsdt and needed kexts - voodoops2, etc to this boot disk. Again, you need a mac for this. The lion installation needs to be run from a USB disk - you need the dsdt to avoid the HPET conflict with the USB ports. You can Partition/Erase the HD as you please using the boot disk. I have played around with several kexts but the battery hack from is the thing that worked the best for me. You may need to change the PCI next from 10.6.7 as well to avoid kernel panics.

You can just use the chameleon graphics enabler for the video card but if you want to use the VGA out, you will need a DSDT edit - I will upload mine later. Send me a message if you need any help. BTW the laptop runs lion beautifully.
I have a dual SSD setup for Win 7 and OS X and they both run very well. Thanks for the reply. Using what you wrote and the xMove+Multibeast I created a different way of installing and it worked. I had already installed the xMove+multibeast way on another laptop. I imaged the Installer partition from the first laptop, and then restore it to the HP laptop (removed the HD and connected via a usb adapter to do so). Ran multibeast against the restored image (on the HP HD) using a DSDT.aml dump (from linux).

Some minor issues with max volume and no trackpad which I'll work on as well as patching the DSDT. Thanks again.
Was able to successfully install Lion up to 10.7.3 and it is running very well. Like everyone else, the internal wifi does not work, so I am using a USB based one that works just fine. The internal Ethernet connection works perfectly. The volume controls move the slider up and down, but the actual volume does not change, though in applications like youtube, it's possible to change the volume with the application slider. The trackpad is setup as a mouse, and on the right hand side it works as an up and down slider. I will be doing some performance testing to see who well it performs under stress.
