Pros: Its a wonderful card for a mac pro, I do use my early 2008 mac pro 8x 3.2ghz for gaming in windows 7, it works great. I don't believe there is a game i cant play on somewhat high settings. I have two 21' 1080P monitors this card makes them really stand out on leopard and windows. Cons: I got my Mac Pro over other work stations For two reasons, 1st to be able to have run OS X without 'hackintoshing' it, and 2nd for how quite it is, unfortunately sometimes when using Applications that are GPU intense you can hear a buzzing noise from the card, which im sure Apple or evga will help me with. Other Thoughts: Some Driver issues with Sims 3 in leopard that i have high hopes will be worked out very soon. I also have a GT120 in my mac that runs my physX for games in windows and it really lets the card use its full potential. Pros: I purchased this card as an upgrade for a 2009 Mac Pro over the options that Apple offers.
I have owned EVGA graphics cards in the past for the PC and have been fairly pleased with their performance. I am a 3D animator and consider this to be a fairly economic alternative to the Quadro VF 4800 for anyone that isn't on an unlimited budget. It has performed fairly well in any programs that I have that use Open GL and I haven't had any problems with it yet on the Mac side. I don't own many games for the Mac, especially ones that would tax the graphics processor, so I can't comment on that. However, I have run a number of games on Vista 64-bit through Boot Camp and have been fairly pleased with its performance on that side. Cons: Only on the Vista 64 bit side: I have had a number of blue screens of death while running Crysis on high settings. I turned down a few key settings and the crashes stopped for a while.
However, I won't take any eggs off due to the fact that it was running on a non-native operating system. Other Thoughts: Great piece of hardware over the stock card that comes with the Mac Pro.

I've been pleased with the purchase. I've kept my old card, though, and installed it in the second PCI slot just in case I want to add a third monitor some day. It is also nice to keep around just in case my hard drive fails and I have to reload OSX since the drivers for this card do not come with the OSX install. Pros: super fast, easy to install and setup. Big improvement over the 2600 that was originally in 'the Beast'. Improved performance in C&C and SPORE. Can output to two 30' cinema displays without having to buy a $99 adaptor.
Cons: way too expensive for a video card, i have built PCs that cost less. Tech support is unimpressive. Other Thoughts: freezes up the sims3 when trying to load town, contacted evga tech support, they blamed EA, contacted EA, they blamed evga. Still dealing with both supports. This video card is totally worth 5 eggs, but still having problems. Pros: The fastest video card available for the Mac. Cons: If you are replacing a defective ATI 2600 XT be prepared to be annoyed.
You absolutely have to have the drivers loaded PRIOR to installing the card. This is an absolutely ridiculous issue that is unforgivable. You also have to have OS X 10.5.7 on your computer. As of 7/5/09 there is no work around. You can't boot up in safe mode, you can't boot your machine as a hard disk and upload the driver from another computer. The guy at the genius bar at the apple store tried everything. EVGA had no options when I called.
Two solutions I am aware of. Buy another 2600 XT card then load nvidia drivers. Now you can either sell the card or keep the second for a spare. Have apple techs install their card temporarily and install drivers for you for a tidy fee of $75 plus tax. After spending $449 for a video card I found that to be insult to injury but my only option to get my computer back quickly.
Other Thoughts: If you have an early 2008 or 2009 Mac pro this card will work. It will not work on older units because this card will not work in a 32 bit system. Please be aware of this issue before purchasing. I strongly suggest anybody that owns a Mac Pro with the Piece of junk ATI 2600 XT card to upgrade NOW. They fail like crazy and are basically JUNK. Should your Hard drive fail you will NOT be able to just reload OS X you will get caught in this loop like I did.
A simple back up and time machine will not help you. For this reason I suggest buying a second hard drive and using RAID 1 (Mirroring). You don't need anything special, just the same size HD as your main and use Apple's software raid built in. Pros: Very capable card.

Low on noise level. Maintains 30 fps in Crysis with all settings to High, within Windows 7 environment. Video performance within FCP is very good, no drop frames visible. Photoshop performance is good as well.
Easy installation. Cons: This is not a Pro App card, it is still nothing more than a gaming card. Do not let Apple fool you. If you are going to doing any 3D work outside of Cinema 4D and Poser, do not get this card.
Maya 2009 performance is horrible, artifacting within windows, worse then the ATI 2600 that came with the machine by default. Backculling is terrible as well. Marquee selection creates artifacts as well, and numbers will dissappear upon scrolling within windows. Other Thoughts: I am using the latest drivers from EVGA's site, which is of 2-3 weeks old. I am ordering the Quadro FX 4800. Yes it is $1200 more, but I am not going to sit here and get frustrated when my Attribute windows are not appearing correctly in the viewport.
