Google is still on a buying spree, and this time it snatched up BumpTop, the maker of the 3D desktop application for Mac OS X and Windows. “Today, we have a big announcement to make: we’re excited to announce that we’ve been acquired by Google! This means that BumpTop (for both Windows and Mac) will no longer be available for sale,” the BumpTop said on Monday.

“Additionally, no updates to the products are planned.” The BumpTop application for Mac OS X and Windows will be available to download for free through May 7. The company is, however, planning to offer support for BumpTop Pro users. Google could be planning on blending BumpTop into its Android platform, possibly as an interface for tablet devices.

The company’s touch-based Android platform is already in use on many smartphone devices, and by adding BumpTop to the mix, it could make the OS more enticing to tablet designers, too.
